Dr. Micah Hartwig, DVM

Dr. Hartwig brings over two decades of veterinary experience and a deep love for animals to her role as the newest veterinarian at Acorn Hill Animal Hospital. Graduating from Oklahoma State University in 1998, Dr. Hartwig embarked on her journey in veterinary medicine, fueled by a passion for animal wellness and preventive care.

With a background that includes owning her own clinic in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Dr. Hartwig is a seasoned practitioner dedicated to the well-being of her furry patients. Her expertise spans a wide range of areas, from allergy management to soft tissue surgery.

Dr. Hartwig and her husband, both die-hard OSU Cowboys fans, moved to San Antonio to be closer to family. They share their lives at home with a lively menagerie of animals, including two Labrador Retrievers, a Chihuahua, five cats, and five beloved horses. Whether she's playing tennis, spending time with her horses, or cheering on her two college-age daughters, family remains at the center of her life.

Dr. Lauren Keim, DVM

Dr. Keim brings a unique blend of expertise and heartfelt dedication to her role as a veterinarian. Born and raised in El Paso, Texas, Dr. Keim's journey in veterinary medicine has taken her across the United States. After completing her undergraduate studies at UTSA, Dr. Keim pursued her doctorate at St. Georges University in Grenada, with her final year of training at Oklahoma State University. This diverse educational background has equipped her with a comprehensive understanding of veterinary medicine and a deep appreciation for the human-animal bond.

At home, Dr. Keim shares her life with two beloved lab mixes, Chili and Swagger. Chili, found on the beaches of Grenada during her studies, and Swagger, rescued from her hometown of El Paso, hold a special place in her heart. Dr. Keim's passion for animals extends beyond her professional life, as she enjoys spending time with her dogs and taking them to the river for outdoor adventures.

Amanda — Inventory Manager

Born in Illinois, Amanda spent most of her childhood and early 20s in the Florida Gulf Coast, where she completed her bachelor’s degree in Forensic Science at the University of Central Florida. After being a preschool educator for 8.5 years, Amanda moved to Texas and joined Acorn Hill Animal Hospital as a receptionist but was soon promoted to inventory manager due to her exceptional computing and analytical skills. She is currently enrolled at San Antonio College and pursuing her dream of becoming a licensed funeral director and embalmer.

In her spare time, Amanda indulges in binge-reading romance novels and singing karaoke. She also trains, fundraises, and runs with Team World Vision to help end the clean water crisis worldwide.

Heidi — CSR Manager

Heidi is a team player born and raised in California before moving to Texas. A firm believer in high-quality client service, Heidi is well versed in daily veterinary operations and customer interactions. Although journalism was Heidi’s first career choice, she found client service very fulfilling. She is passionate about politics and history and her interest in these subjects has led her to volunteer towards saving historical monuments and joining local marches.

Sarah — Head of Out Patient

Sarah is an exceptional veterinary technician who specializes in blood smears and radiographs. Raised in San Antonio, Texas, Sarah completed her Bachelor of Arts in Marketing from St. Mary’s University in 2016. It was her passion, commitment and immense love for animals that led her to join the team at Acorn Hill Animal Hospital in 2017. In her free time, Sarah is fond of fishing, karaoke and spending time with her husband and canine companions.

Lauren

Lauren — Veterinary Technician

Veterinary medicine has been a lifelong passion for Lauren. A native Texan, she attended James Madison High School and then embraced an ag-science program. Lauren is a pre-veterinary undergraduate student at Texas State University with a major in animal science and biology. While at home, Lauren enjoys activities like baking, recreating recipes, and tending to her garden. You will also find her watching one of her favorite shows, Grey’s Anatomy, when she is not studying.
